Ron DeSantis, a Republican, to deploy more than 250 law enforcement officers and soldiers to the Florida Keys to “protect our state” and stop a possible surge of Haitian migrants fleeing the violence. The deployment includes officers from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers, and members of the Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard. The US Coast Guard said Tuesday that it had repatriated 65 migrants to Haiti after they were picked up on a boat near the Bahamas. Since October 1, the Coast Guard said, it has repatriated 131 migrants to Haiti. The Coast Guard said it has not seen an increase in migrants from Haiti in recent weeks.

As gangs rampage in Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince, several children and teenagers tell CNN they have been orphaned, wounded, raped and even recruited by members of these armed groups. Some are navigating life in neighborhoods ruled by gangs, doing their best to stay out of danger. The families grab their belongings and head along a tarmacked path as we join them, long grass mostly hiding them from the view of the highway and Mexican officials. Occasionally, Mexican officials shout out across the grass to the walkers and tell them to come back to the main road. This static game of cat and mouse will play out several times past several checkpoints on the route. This was not how I envisioned taking magic mushrooms, especially considering there were no actual mushrooms. I started to think that I was among the few who may not experience any psychoactive reaction to mushrooms. Canopy Growth applauded President Joe Biden's announcement Thursday that he will pardon thousands of people convicted of marijuana possession. The president also called for a review of how marijuana is classified under federal law, saying the current status "makes no sense." Shares of Canopy jumped 22% after the news Thursday, closing at $3.75. Shares of fellow cannabis firm Tilray Brands gained over 30% that day. "Today represents action from the Administration that we have been waiting for – an acknowledgement that cannabis prohibition has failed and that too many lives have been significantly impacted as a result," David Culver, vice president of government relations at Canopy, said in a statement.
